the world of...
Cathy Scalise
In times like these, everyone could use a little romance, elegance and whimsy in their lives. And if you look hard enough, you begin to realize that magic is actually all around you.
Cathy Scalise has made it her life’s work to surround herself with things that make her happy, and to share the wonder and beauty of these treasures with others.
Cathy
starts with exquisite vintage finds and antique treasures such as bone china
teacups and apothecary bottles. Then she uses her artful creativity to put her
own unique touch on them and make them truly special.
Some of Cathy's work features hand-painted flowers and vines while other works of art may be created with many different mediums. Whatever she creates it receives a final touch of "fairy dust." It comes as no surprise that her favorite motto is, "Nothing is complete until it sparkles with glitter." She also adorns customized wreaths with antique collectibles such as vintage toys, bone china figurines, teacups, and jewelry. Everything is designed at her “Glitz and Glam" studio in her home, a sanctuary Cathy has made to surround herself with customized decoration and style.
Her newest endeavor is a virtual boutique called "Elegance and Whimsy." It is designed to capture the era of Marie Antoinette, Versailles, and a time when opulence and indulgence ruled the day.
Cathy
has customers from as far away as Europe and Asia who flock to this magical
retreat to purchase one-of-a-kind, enchanting treasures. Her artwork ranges from
vintage feather- and lace-adorned Dresden figurines surrounded by faux pastries,
to antique dress forms which she carefully restores and dresses in luxurious
vintage tulle, floral millinery and exquisite jewels and gems found at estate
sales and consignment shops throughout New England.
Cathy still owns and operates her first Web site, "Treasured Heirlooms." Visitors are offered a huge array of vintage items for the home and garden. She sells to a host of return customers she considers her "friends." Vintage linens, lace, and romantic boudoir pretties are offered in addition to beautiful decor and fresh seeds from her English cottage garden. Cathy prides herself on keeping her boutiques filled with fresh inventory allowing her customers the excitement of the "hunt for new treasures.”
